Chewy Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies with Mocha Chips

Deliciously chewy cookies combining chocolate chips, dried cherries, and mocha chips for a delightful flavor explosion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour (Substitute with whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda (Ensure it’s fresh for best results)
  • 1 pinch Salt (Try coarse salt for an unexpected crunch)
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted Butter (Softened for easy creaming)
  • 0.75 cups Brown Sugar (Dark brown sugar gives a richer flavor)
  • 0.5 cups Granulated Sugar (Can reduce slightly for less sweetness)
  • 1 large Egg (Substitute with flaxseed meal mixed with water for a vegan option)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Opt for pure vanilla extract for the best outcome)
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips (Feel free to use milk chocolate for a sweeter touch)
  • 0.5 cups Mocha Chips (Can replace with more chocolate chips for simplicity)
  • 0.75 cups Dried Cherries (chopped) (Fresh cherries are fantastic when in season)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Stir until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips, mocha chips, and chopped dried cherries.
  7. Using a spoon or scoop, drop dough balls onto a lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking can enhance chewiness.
