Chicken Parmesan Casserole

A comforting and easy chicken parmesan casserole made with cooked chicken, marinara sauce, and melted cheese, perfect for weeknight dinners.

  • 4 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie preferred)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups cooked pasta (e.g., penne or rotini)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add shredded chicken, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir and warm the chicken for about 5 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked pasta, marinara sauce, half of the Parmesan, and half of the mozzarella until coated.
  4. Add the seasoned chicken to the pasta mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it flat.
  6. Top with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes, then garnish with basil or parsley.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

You can substitute vegetables or different pasta shapes based on your preference. This casserole also makes great leftovers.
