Crème Brûlée French Toast

A decadent breakfast dish that combines the rich flavors of crème brûlée with the comfort of French toast.

  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the French bread into thick slices and arrange them in a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Pour the mixture over the bread slices, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Sprinkle brown sugar (and cinnamon if using) over the soaked bread slices.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and puffed.
  8. Optionally, use a kitchen torch to caramelize the top for extra flavor.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy your decadently sweet breakfast!

Notes

For best results, soak the bread overnight and try adding chocolate chips or nuts for extra flavor.
