Ding Dong Cake

A rich and moist chocolate cake filled with whipped cream and topped with chocolate frosting, reminiscent of classic cream-filled chocolate treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
  3. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  5. While the cakes are cooling, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  6. Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of whipped cream on top, then place the second cake layer on top.
  7. Frost the top and sides of the cake with chocolate frosting.
  8. Garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
  9. Slice and serve the delicious Ding Dong Cake!

Notes

Serve with coffee or milk. For special occasions, add fresh berries or a scoop of ice cream on the side.
