German Chocolate Cookies

Rich, chewy cookies that combine chocolate, coconut, and pecans, mimicking the flavors of German chocolate cake.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the coconut, pecans, and chocolate chips.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  8. Let cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
