Greek Chicken Gyros with Lemon-Herb Marinade

Quick and flavorful gyros made with chicken marinated in a bright lemon-herb marinade, served with tzatziki and fresh toppings.

  • 1 lb chicken breast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 1 cup chopped lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Cut the chicken into strips and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the marinated chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
  5. Warm the pita breads on the grill for a minute.
  6. Assemble the gyros by placing chicken, tzatziki, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions in the pita.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For serving, provide extra tzatziki and lemon wedges. Leftover chicken can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
