Healthy Mini Air Fryer Blooming Onions

A light and crunchy take on classic blooming onions, made in the air fryer with minimal oil.

Ingredients

  • 2 small sweet onions
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel onions and trim the tops. Cut into quarters, leaving the root intact.
  3. Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Whisk egg and milk in another bowl.
  5. Coat each onion in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and coat again in flour.
  6. Place onions in the air fryer basket and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  7. Cook for 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Best served immediately for maximum crunch. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days.
