Homemade Twinkies

Delicious homemade Twinkies filled with creamy goodness, perfect for parties, lunchboxes, or a sweet snack.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a Twinkie pan or muffin tin.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla.
  5. Alternately mix in the dry ingredients and milk until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool completely.
  9. While cooling, whip together heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  10. Once the cakes are cool, fill with the cream using a piping bag.
  11. Enjoy your homemade Twinkies!

Notes

Make sure to cream the butter and sugar thoroughly for a light texture. Use a piping bag to fill the Twinkies for even distribution of the cream.
