One-Pan Honey BBQ Chicken and Rice

A quick and easy meal combining juicy chicken, rice, and sweet honey BBQ sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup honey BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until browned.
  4. Pour the honey BBQ sauce over the chicken and add the rice and chicken broth to the skillet.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the chicken is no longer pink inside.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork, garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

This dish can easily be modified with different proteins or sauces. Great way to introduce kids to cooking!
