One-Pan Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sausage Rice

A quick and comforting one-pan meal featuring smoky sausage, sweet barbecue sauce, and tender rice.

  • 1 lb smoky sausage, sliced
  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or pan, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat and add the sliced sausage. Sear until browned.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened.
  3. Stir in the chopped bell pepper and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the rice and stir to combine.
  5. Pour in the barbecue sauce and chicken broth, mixing well.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then serve warm.
