Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until well combined.
  5. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  6. In a separate bowl, blend the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Pour this mixture over the cake batter.
  7. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set. Let it cool before serving.
