Orange Creamsicle Cake

A delightful treat that combines the flavors of a classic orange creamsicle in a soft and moist cake, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 box vanilla cake mix
  • 1 box (3 oz) orange gelatin mix
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp orange extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix and orange gelatin mix.
  3. Add orange juice, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and orange zest. Beat the mixture until it is smooth and well combined.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  6. For the frosting, beat the softened butter until it is fluffy. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar.
  7. Add heavy cream and orange extract (if using), and beat until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
  8. Frost the top of the first cake layer, stack the second layer on top, and then frost the entire cake.
  9. Slice the cake and serve it to your friends and family!

Notes

Serve the cake chilled or at room temperature. It can be enjoyed plain or with vanilla ice cream. Garnish with orange slices or zest for added flavor.
