Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls

Delicious red velvet cinnamon rolls topped with cream cheese frosting, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 1/4 cup milk (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter, milk, egg, cocoa powder, red food coloring, and vanilla extract; mix until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  5. Spread the filling of your choice on the dough.
  6. Roll the dough tightly and slice into individual rolls.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. For the frosting, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  10. Once the rolls are done, spread the frosting on top and serve warm.

Notes

These rolls can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the fridge before baking. They can also be frozen for later enjoyment.
