Red Velvet Marble Waffles

Delicious Red Velvet Marble Waffles with a chocolate swirl, perfect for a special breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons red food coloring (adjust to preference)
  • Cooking spray or additional butter for the waffle iron

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Divide the batter in half. To one half, add cocoa powder and red food coloring, mixing until uniform in color.
  5. Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it.
  6. Pour a spoonful of the classic batter and a spoonful of the red velvet batter into the iron, then swirl them slightly with a knife or toothpick to create a marbled effect.
  7. Close the waffle iron and cook according to manufacturer’s instructions until golden brown.
  8. Repeat until all batter is used.
  9. Serve with syrup, whipped cream, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter. Small lumps are okay. Use full-fat buttermilk for best flavor and texture.
