Reese’s Peanut Butter Earthquake Cake

A rich dessert combining chocolate cake, creamy peanut butter, and plenty of Reese’s cups, perfect for sharing at gatherings.

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (ingredients as per package)
  • 1 jar (16 oz) creamy peanut butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup crushed Reese’s peanut butter cups
  • 1 cup mini Reese’s peanut butter cups, chopped
  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to temperature specified on cake mix box.
  2. Prepare chocolate cake mix as directed and pour into a greased 9×13 baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix peanut butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of peanut butter mixture over the cake batter.
  5. Top with crushed and chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups.
  6. Bake as per cake mix instructions.
  7. Let cake cool slightly, then spread whipped topping over it.
  8. Melt chocolate chips, butter, and heavy cream together, then drizzle over the cake.
  9. Let set before serving.

Notes

For a fun twist, use crunchy peanut butter or dark chocolate chips.
