Bakery-Style Chocolate Chip Cookies

Large, soft chocolate chip cookies with golden edges and a simple method.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For softer cookies, do not overmix after adding flour. Use room-temperature eggs and softened butter for best results.
