Chicken Shawarma with Garlic Sauce

A simple and tasty chicken shawarma wrap with warm spices and a bright garlic sauce.

  • 1 lb Chicken thighs or breasts
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp Ground cumin
  • 2 tsp Ground coriander
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • Pita bread
  • Vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers)
  • Garlic sauce (mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Add the chicken to the marinade and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the marinated chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked.
  5. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes, then slice thinly.
  6. Serve the sliced chicken in pita bread with fresh vegetables and drizzle with garlic sauce.

Notes

Marinate longer for deeper flavor. Use thighs for juicier meat; breasts are leaner. Slice against the grain for tenderness.
