Grilled Kingklip Fish

A delicious grilled kingklip fish recipe highlighting its natural flavor with simple seasonings and a zesty lemon squeeze.

  • 2 lb (900 g) kingklip fillet
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 34 tbsp lemon juice
  • Optional: Fresh herbs (like parsley or dill) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F / 200°C) and brush the grates with oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Pat the kingklip fillets dry with paper towels and brush both sides with olive oil. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Place the kingklip on the grill. Cook for 4–5 minutes on the first side until opaque with grill marks. Flip and grill another 4–5 minutes until it flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Remove from the grill and let rest for 2–3 minutes. Squeeze lemon juice on top, garnish with herbs, and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the grill.
