2 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups flour
3/4 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
1 cup hot coffee
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
Fudge Frosting: 1 cup butter, 3/4 cup cocoa, 5 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup cream, 8 oz melted chocolate
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 3 round pans.
2. Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
3. Combine milk, coffee, oil, eggs, and vanilla.
4. Mix wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
5. Pour batter into pans and bake 30–35 minutes.
6. Cool completely before frosting.
7. For frosting, melt butter and chocolate. Whisk in cocoa and sugar, adding cream until smooth.
8. Frost cooled layers generously.
Store covered at room temperature up to 3 days or refrigerate for 7 days.
