Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes

A comforting and easy-to-make meal featuring ground beef in a sweet and tangy sauce served on hamburger buns.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper (chopped)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Brown the meat: In a pan, brown the ground beef with the onion and green bell pepper until the meat is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Combine ingredients: Transfer the cooked meat mixture into the slow cooker. Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine everything.
  3. Cook Sloppy Joes: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for about 240 minutes. This allows all the flavors to meld together nicely.
  4. Serve: Once done, spoon the mixture onto the hamburger buns and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure to drain the fat from the meat to keep the Sloppy Joes from becoming too greasy. Adjust the sweetness by modifying the brown sugar to your taste.
